This is my concentration piece about hunger, the boy is basically trapped within the enclosure of a skeletal structure of poverty and hunger. He is his own heart keeping himself alive (thank you elana for that idea).

i'm actually really surprised i decided to paint this and that i finished so quickly considering that i never finish anything i paint in less than like a month. finally done :)

I decided I'd be really proactive this weekend and do some still lifes to help my work along.

Poverty Concentration Piece

This piece is going in my concentration as a representation of poverty. The woman and her child are in completely white to symbolize their innocence and lack of material items. The girl and her guardian are walking by but not necessarily doing anything to help the woman, relating to the ignorance of today's society with respect to the homeless and those in need.

Met Piece

So with a little (actually a lot) of help from Ms. Kane I decided to kind of rework the whole thing entirely. I have to completely glue down the figures and decide how to work in some more color, but I think early on this week I can be finished.

This piece I'm working on has to do with my concentration. It represents the theme of war and how two people on the same side can unknowingly attack each other if they are on "opposite sides of the wall". I incorporated one of the more intricate and interesting vases from the Met into the bricks in the background. I'm hoping to go in with splashes of color throughout to make the piece more visually attractive.
